Hygge Homesharing is a non-profit organization founded in 2018, dedicated to connecting people with a place in their homes and their hearts to share space and a mutually supportive relationship with 2SLGBTQ folks who need a place to live. What matters most is compassion, compatibility, and mutual respect.
A message from the founder:

"Hygge is cozy, it is warm, it is home. But ultimately, it is what the community wants to grow."
- CJ Blake, founder
Thank you for visiting and lending your support to Hygge. This project is a real step in the right direction to solve some real world problems: the loneliness epidemic, and rampant financial insecurity. However, it wasn't until 2016 that I learned that 80% of people over the age of 80 experience loneliness. Yikes.
With my grandpa passing in 2014, immediately I thought of my grandma, who's now pushing 80. I even thought of moving to live with her, but I hadn't yet finished at the University of Ottawa. Thankfully she is surrounded by family, but I know not everyone is so lucky.
Aha! Hygge was born.
From our humble beginnings to now, the journey has been remarkable, and I'm excited for others in a similar position as my grandma to have some help and companionship (and make a little spending money). It really is a win-win.
I look forward to celebrating these wins with you.
Sincerely,
CJ
